i was wondering is it hurting performance when the XFI is pulling or adding fuel? i know ideal would be 0 correction but what if it is running a solid +10/-10 correction? is this hurting performance over having it at 0 correction? i hope that makes since. just wondering as i have a few ideas in my head

It is hurting performance to some extent. The O2 correction is based on what the O2 sensor "sees". It can't react instantly, so you will get rich/lean spots in your tune-up. It is much more pronounced when the AE fueling is incorrect.
