Yet another shifter question

Before you kill me....I have searched this forum as well as other Buick G-body sites for the answer. Nothing clear enough for me.

I would like to change my OEM shifter with either a Hurst or B&M shifter. Since I'm not overly mechanically inclined, I need a simple solution.

It doesn't look like either of these options are "direct replacements". Am I missing something?

I have also seen this shifter knob advertised as a compatible fit for our cars. Although, since our shifters have aside button and these do not, I am not sure that this will work.

With no Button to engage/disengage the Detents that Knob's not gonna work.

There aren't any "Bolt in" shifters that don't require some modifications.
Many have used the B&M Quick Silver, Mega Shifter, Hammer, Pro Ratchet etc.. They will require some Top plate & under side trimming. There're several Threads on here with Install Pics.

Hurst stopped making their Pro-Matic & V-Matic 4-speed auto shifters when B&M bought them out. Basically the same design as B&M's Quick Silver & Mega shifter.
