    Cam shaft endplay

I set mine at .006 and used the roller button on my 206 comp.. Don't use the stock button or the spring loaded button. I had to make my own shims and be sure to put the water pump bolts in and toruqe them also or you'll get a false reading.

    Valve Cover Breather Baffles?

Sounds like you might be having some oil leakage problems. I had the aftermarket breathers on mine and they leaked in the original positions (straight out the front of pass. side and straight out of the top drivers side). I fixed the pass side by installing the OEM 90* hose and using a pipe...

    Brake Pads & Shoes

Want to replace the old pads & rear shoes. What are the best pads and shoes to use on the OEM set-up? Ceramics look good, do they work any better? Thinking about the ceramics as I understand they make way less dust. any opinions welcome. Thanks

    Made A New Believer

Going to my daughter's apartment just before Christmas to pick up her and my wife for a Christmas party when a guy in a nice looking 260Z pulled up beside me and wanted to play. He ended up behind a slower driver in his lane,so I went on by. He followed me into a left turn onto the 3 lane street...

    4.1 Main Bearings

King bearings are very good for our cars. You can get them from several sources, Full Throttle Speed is one and I could even get them from a local machine shop. I put the .001 undersize mains on my stock crank and ended up with .001 clearances. My engine will hold very good oil pressure at hot...

Need torque spec for bolts that fasten plenum to intake

I wouldn't go over 12 ft/lbs, mine started to strip above that. The manifold must be fairly soft. I will probably have to re-tap mine if I take the plenum off again.

Mouse control, Irish spring or peppermint oil?

My car is outside too, although it is in a carport. Still using the red wine vinegar around the car and the Mouse Away from Dreaming Earth. It is working great, I haven't any more problems with mice in or around the car and nothing in any of the traps that I've put out just to check. Best stuff...

Would you consider a Turbo Buick as a muscle car?

I would say that after you have outrun several of the "catagorized" muscle cars, that you definitely have more muscle. So I'd vote for calling our cars "Muscle Cars", even though it is a more modern rendition. I hear a lot of comments like, "Man that thing is fast for a big car" and "What the...

Mouse control, Irish spring or peppermint oil?

jc227 Sent an answer on the other board. Dreaming Earth Botanicals have the spearment and peppermint oil and it works. Found out that red wine vinegar mixed 50% with water works good too. Spray it around the outside of your car. Moth balls didn't do me any good. John

    Cleaning Mass Air Flow Sensor

There was a really good article on tuning your 86-87 turbo buick by Ray Bohacz in Hemmings Muscle Machines three or four months ago. He recommends using CRC MAF Cleaner. John

Anyone try this oiling system mod?

I did mine like that (everything, drilled the feed very carefully, portmatched everything and deburred, drilled the hole on the LP side, set the thrust tight) and it works great. I get instantaneous oil pressure at startup, even after the car has set for two weeks and it will hold 25 psi at hot...

looking to trade for first turbo buick ?s

J-rod, Yes there is an '84 GN. They are a hot air (non-intercooled) car. The '86-87s are generally quicker in stock configuration since they are intercooled, and there are more aftermarket parts for them. The '84s are port injected, '83s and earlier are carbed. They do have the 8.5" rearend...

    H-V oil pump

I agree with 49-Blues. Get the grooved cam bearings from TA Performance and clock them according to their directions, that's what I used in mine. Used King bearings for the mains and rods. You don't need the HV oil pump if you will blueprint your pump and port the timing cover oil passages. Use...
