Took a class yesterday on the new engines coming out for the 07 model year for GM vehicles. The 2 seater pontiac solstice and the saturn roadster looked pretty advanced. 4 cylinder engine 2.0L or 2.2L engine, Can't remember exactly which one but it is turbo charged and intercooled. Rated at 270 HP and I think 270 ft lbs Tq. Fuel injectors are mounted directly into the cylinders so fuel pressure was raised from 60 psi to a max of 2176 psi!!! Has a secondary fuel pump that drives off the cam to increase the pressure to the max of 2176 psi. Twin scroll turbo charger, has a split section in the exhaust inlet that mates with the exhaust manifold for cylinders 1/4 and 2/3. they said this prevents exhaust pulses that effect turbo performance. I will try to remember to bring the papers home so I can post them.

It's the 2.0L Ecotech motor for the Solstice GXP and the Sky Redline. I'd be very interested in the papers you have on the motor. My biggest question on these motors is how much of a learning curve is there going to be for the aftermarket? I've heard the bottom end is quite solid, but are there turbo options for that dual-scroll - and the direct injection system??

I know I'd love to put a black GXP in my garage though. They sound like fun cars.

I work for Pontiac/Buick and I had the opportunity to drive a Solstice GXP with the auto trans last week. Kinda quick, however I only had enough road to get up to about 60 or so. Builds boost very quickly, but didn't quite have the whistle that we have all come to expect with a turbo car.

Should be fun once they hit the aftermarket parts
