I have searched the threads and could not find what I am looking for.
I have a 2004R in a 62 nova whith a 355 (350hp?). I just installed a trans go shift kit in the tranny that was rebuilt to stock about 600 miles ago. All is good at part throttle, but at WOT the 1-2 shift flaires or slips for about 1 or 2 sec. before it goes in. I did put the 700 bottom feed filter on and filled the tranny about 1 pint over full. My psi at idle is around 80, and about 200 at WOT, sorry it has been about two weeks ago when I did the psi readings. The pump is stock as is the servo. Could anyone give me some ideas on what to look at.
Thank you for your time and this forum, it has answered alot of ? for me!

I have not had a chance to get the car on the hoist to get the servo number. I do know the trany is out of an olds delta 88 diesel early 80's.
Would one of the aftermarket servos solve my flair shift or am I looking at the wrong section of the trany? All shifts are good until I leg it and then 1st to 2nd slides in bad even if I manually shift. I have been lifting to shift to 2nd and then stab it and it holds fine and shifts into 3rd and 4th nice and firm.
I put a psi guage on and drove it and the pressures seem fine, I think!?!

IDLE 2000RPM
Park 90 185
Reverse 90 240
Nutrual 90 190
1st 70 190
2nd 90 200
3rd 90 185
4th 90 190

The presures may be off a few psi due to the pulse at idle from the 7 vane pump and trying to drive and read the small guage at the same time.
Please let me know what to look for or what to change.
Thank You

If it's slipping that bad the band is probably burned but you could try a GN servo @ minimum & see what happens.

GN Servo:
694 Cover/562 Piston combo. Apply area 2.675 diameter

Thank you for the reply!
I have another 200 4R that I am building to try some of the mods on and install in the future. Would an after market servo be better or will the G/N servo do the job fine? If I can get this stock trany to work and shift the way I like I will swap the servo,vb into the new one with the good hard parts.
Thanks

understanding the problem will be alot easier if you note what the pressure gage does on a 1/2 upshift.
