At wot I have a drawn out 1-2 shift. The rpm's do not go up it just shifts slow is the only way I know how to explain it.The transmission has 54,000 miles on it.I have owned the car since it had 49,000 miles on it.The whole car was completely stock.I have changed the fluid and filter once a year since I bought the car which is about every 1,000 miles. Is thee anything I can do to fix this short of a rebuild? It is not tv cable related as I have made sure the adjustment is correct. The transmission was never worked on or modified.Bruce

I had the same problem on my GN. Trans only has 28k on it (whole car does) and at WOT after a few performance upgrades she was just a hangin' out then gently slipping into gear.

I put in an Art Carr shift kit that Santa gave me and now even at part throttle the 1-2 shift is snapping the tires loose. At wot ( believe it or not I don't do it often) there is no more waiting for the car to shift.

Some have said that a shift kit is a bandaid for other problems but hey....it worked for me and the longer I can delay a trans rebuild the more $$ I can save up to have the whole trans made solid, not just replace the bands.

Could be a number of things.. .

such as accum. valve sticking or weak spring, accum. piston weak spring or leaky seal, servo pin not appling band fast enough due worn band or leaky seal, tv/limit/line bias valves hanging. all due to wear. Short of a rebuild you can try these thing they are not a band aid if the work due to worn parts ands they replace most all of those parts mentioned, they should help if not cure it and I bet they do, if by chance not then your one step closer to a high performance trans.

to increase pressure for more holding power, longer life and quicker shifts.

for quicker, firmer and more positive shifts.

for quicker and better 1-2 2-3 shifts and better holding on 2nd after shift.

or get this w/band and anchor to save $ and for future to upgrade.
