what pistons are you talking about earl?
They're pistons that I designed with a piston manufacturer in California. I'd planned on announcing them last week but I can't find my stupid pictures to post.
Basically they're designed to be a custom piston that can be bought like a shelf piston. I chose 22cc's to make a desired compression ratio attainable with any bore from stock 3.800" all the way up to a .060" 4.1 at 4.025. My piston guys will allow me to choose any bore size between 2.500" and 5.500", change the ring pack, and move the compression height up or down with no extra charge. So basically you can get desired quench/deck height without having to buy expensive custom .027" cometics and/or deck they shit out of your block (like I had to do with my 4.1 when hypers were the only choice). It also keep from having to pay to deck the block since normal pistons are soooo far down in the hole to start with.
The other cool thing about having infinate bore size choices is, for example, if you have a stock unbored block wth just minor wear, I could make some .002 or .003" overs. Not only does that save meterial on the block, it allows you to skip having to pay to have the block bored. It can go straight into the honing machine.
I'm pretty proud of them. We worked on the inverted dome with three things in mind. Try to minimize the amount of needed ignition advance to make the power cycle more efficient, Have the ability to make good compression with only a CH change, and keep from having to weaken the piston with valve reliefs. The bad part is when you look at my slugs you can't see that work. The inverted dome just looks like a plain ole dish.
I chose 4032 as the base metal on the forging to minimize piston noise when cold. it also uses a box forging so it can be strong and still cut weight.
I found this shot on my ''how to balance and marry parts together" post in the How-To section. It doesn't show the inverted dome of the box forging though
You can see how the skirt is well supported now instead of that big stupid slot the hypers are running (that causes me to crack hypers and invent my own pistons

)
