It sounds like he is after a one time race gas alky timing loaded 30 pound boosted fun bomb run .. I dunno jus guessing

It wasn't a bomb, but that build-up of the rusty silver bullet was a rocket with a high mileage stock engine that got reborn into 500+ hp of evil :)

10.40s on the stock bottom end (rods- mains- pistons -crank -intake - exhaust manifolds) , just small flat tappet cam , ported irons , cometics and a big turbo. 2004r stageright 8.5 spool... street car on pump gas alky and gtas with 255s . held up at that level for years eventually cracked a piston when it was going over 105 1/8th'.

bison has been further

I was just pointing the guy to a thread with a detailed build-up that someone did from the board that had hit 11's and got into the 10's with it. Not sure if that's what they were wanting, but if so all they have to do is read through it and get someone to properly tune it once it's built to be good to go.

With an aftermarket ecu and some other goodies you can go really fast on a stock shortblock. I suspect someone has gone mid 9's or slightly.faster with one. The pistons are the limiting factor. These days it's kind of hard to not be in the 10's with heads, intercooler, turbo, and good converter. I would not be afraid to make 10 low 10 sec passes in one day with the engine I used in the 6265 thread and drive it to the drag strip and hopefully back. It's an unknown engine.
I've made over 20 low 10 sec passes on stock shortblocks over the years and thousands of hits on the street. One had close to 150k and lasted over 2 years before #1 piston failed

@ pace what size blower?
old 71gtq .85 exh small 70 a/r S cover (4in 2.5 out) , 4" cold air mafless inlet pipe with an LT1 maf in the up pipe, cas V2 with 2.5 inlet pipe , art carr 9" NL slipping over 20% , best 1/4 mph was 129.9 ( 6250rpm)
this was stock pushrods and rockers too.. broke a couple shafts and bent some pushrods along the way . was on tt chip then tt 6.0 beta , then just before the piston cracked went fast classic B2B and th400 , dropped another piston in and it went 128 on the next outing .
yanked that motor out for the forged rotating one thats in my 86 now and dropped that old motor into my 87x with a small turbo. and it cracked another piston a few years back, so i dropped another piston in along with a 212 roller cam. its still going as my long distance hauler
