Just for grins tried power braking the GN today.
3,000 RPM, 7PSI, was no problem.

02 Camaro brakes front and rear, plugged and bypassed combo valve, Trofeo Master Cylinder, Vacuum assist, AN lines, PST replacement SS hard lines....

YMMV

Whats the advantage of using the Trofeo MC? And by pluging a by passing the factory combi valve , do you mean you dont use it at all?

1" bore, fittings point the right way, has a low fluid sensor, 4 wheel disc application.

Correct, the only duty my *combo valve*, performs, is that of a junction block.

BTW, I also spent a fair amount of time, verifiing, neither end prematurely locked-up, and wound up going to a larger front tire to achieve the final balance.

also, did you have a machine shop make the custom brackets to mount the f-body discs?? i really want to upgrade to 12" brakes..

IMO, I'd rather use all that I can, rather then reduce the effectiveness of what I put all the effort into doing, in the first place. I'd rather go up a few tire sizes, and use 100% of my braking capacity, rather then limit how well it can work.

There's a bunch of threads here, about dimensions, and firms that sell the adapter pieces:
(The non LE1 braked 3rd Gen F Bodies use the same spindle dimensions for the caliper/ dustshields as the G-Bodies).

oh, i hadn't even considered that the valve restricts the line no matter what.. hm, thanks for the info and link!

I'd been careful not to use the word restricts. A proportioning valve actually is often a *delay* type devise, the pressure will evenually equalize (some use an accumulator and don't equalize [not many comtemporay ones do this anymore]). They do vary by design, but I believe the term used in describing their function is that they have an adjustible *knee over point*.

Without getting into a lot of ------ retentive stuff, a brake system takes an instant for the pads to heat up, and actually begin to work (well), the harder the pad the longer the delay (due to the higher operating temp). So.., when you delay or intially limit the pressure, in addition to limiting the clamping force, your slowing down how it takes for the pad to come to temp, and develope max friction.

Just a brief answer, to a complex subject.
 
FWIW, the Trofeo master does use different line fittings where they go into the M/C. They're also both 3/16" lines, so you'll need a 1/4" line to 3/16" line reducer.

There's also a less expensive M/C that might work off of a late Grand Am. Needless to say it uses diffferent fittings then the Trofeo one.

The reason I asked about the combo valve is the both me and Cal removed ours years ago. In turn we got better braking and a more solid pedal. :)
