Hello,
I have a 1983 Buick T-Type that was idling and over heated not sure for how long (my wife brother ran it)
after it over heated it had a rattle possible bottom end. I added Lucas oil and 20w50w oil it is still there. It is quite on idle but sounds like marbles when I give it gas. My engine cast number is 25514290 was debating on doing a long block swap? any sugestions

What does the oil look like? Is the water mixed with oil and look like a milk shake? Before I would consider swapping the engine I would figure out what you have. Maybe start with a compression test to figure out if it might be too end like a lifter or rocker arm. I would start with what would be easiest to get to like pulling valve covers to inspect valve train. Drop the oil pan and check the rod bearings. Probably by then you will know what you have and can decide how much you are willing to spend.
