I was driving today and noticed one for sale on the side of the road. It has a 5.7 turbo. Does anyone have any opinions on these cars?

Good:biggrin:
Bad:mad:
Run?

Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

5.7 Turbo would be the rare one !!!

You got me curious, so I went and looked it up. You are correct Grumpy, they only made 11,102 of these little GTA's:biggrin:

Do you know if they were good cars? This one only has 70,000 original miles, but it is pretty rough on the outside. Asking price is $4,500.

Ok Grumpy is bustin ur balls..

Turbo GTAs were only made in 1989. Unfortunately they were not 5.7s with single turbos, (they were 3.8s just like our Turbo Regals) just fuel injected small blocks. Now check the car out carefully because if someone took the time to put a single turbo on an 87 GTA then the car might be a rocket ship. I know where there is a twin turbo 87 GTA that would probably peel the paint off the hood before the motor stopped making power so check into it a lil more.

I bought my car new in 1987 and not knowing Buicks at the time, I considered a 87 350 cid GTA. No performance and poor mileage make it a real slug. Thank God I chose to buy my Buick or

There is no such thing as turbo GTA from the factory.

89 was the only year for the TTA. It was a 20th anniversary car from Pontiac.

It was the best of both worlds. The GTA handling with a Buick turbo 6 motor.

It sounds like it is a one off custom job.

Tta

Saw a white 1980 Turbo TA Indy PaceCar yesterday I used to be under the impression that 1989 was the only year the Firebird TTA was used as a PaceCar.

ChavoLC2 - I saw that one in town too, off Eubanks.

Tta

Yeah the kid lives in the heights. In reading up on the car they had a turbocharged 301(codeYL) blow-thru design also was the first Firebird to sport the Shakerhood since the 69TA. It was parked at church so I got to check her out body is straight. Typical TA interior which I like. Always liked the Shakerhood on the old 69's that would be a nice screamin chicken to own. Of coarse the fastest of the screamin chickens was the 89TTA.......The other thing I noticed remember how alot of the old Firebirds had the Tach on the hood , this TTA on the back of the Shakerhood was 3 rectangular lights that said Low, Medium,High Boost , no actual Boost gauge.

SF Did you get your Razor kit and IC hooked up yet? You have one bad lookin T
