1995 grand am transmission help

i bought this car off a lawn for my son but i need help!!!!

1995 grand am gt v 6 with 4 sp. auto with 130k

car will generally not take off in drive
pull into first then return in drive and its ok,
no slippage
convertor locks/unlocks perfect
fluid looks/ smells good
otherwise car shifts/drives 100%

Sounds like the input seal might have rolled over. Putting it in first increases line pressure and pops the seal back, trans has to come apart to repair the seal:frown:
