This was not planned actually, the motor in my higher mile GN developed a rough idle, seemed down on power and a fluctation on the vaccum guage. Upon investigation the #1 intake lobe was flat. So made full use of the new toys in the new shop
. Out with the motor and trans. Motor completely disassembled,it has about 15k on it since the last build. It looked real good inside minus the cam issue. I used the Zddp and did all the proper breakin stuff, but it still wiped a lobe
.
I decided that I would go through it and do it right. Fresh heads, fresh oil pump blue printed etc,new rings, gaskets. Block/crank did not need and machine work other than a cleaning.
Here's the low down on parts.
Speed Pro Hyper pistions .030
.20/.20 on the crank
3 angle valve job with spring about 85-90 closed
wider than stock rod bearings
blue printed oil pump
head studs with 9441PT gaskets
cork oil pan gasket
rubber valve covers
braided turbo drain
stock replacement cam.
the same TA49 turbo
Hoping to breakin the cam Monday after I reinstall the trans.
Here's some pics.
