OK,
A band being too loose should have little to do with a 2-3 flair...
It just has to release on time, in coordination with the directs apply.
If you said a really loose direct pack would contribute I would agree somewhat. But a too loose band would just cause maybe a cutaway on a 3-2 kickdown.
The directs would have to be WAY loose to be a problem.
I think band release hole in the seperator plate, and 3rd gear feed hole have more to do with it.
As well as the fact the directs are just weak on a 200-4R.
Dual feed the directs, get the feed holes properly sized, get the direct clearance to about .060" and everything should be fine.
On a unit that has been in operation for a while it is probably a pressure problem.
