Well, it appears that the valves in the valve body were not the cause of my problems. I removed the valvebody today, in the scorching heat, and removed all valves and cleaned them again, and reinstalled making sure each one was not sticking. I also drilled the spacer plate to the specifications in the manual.

I used new gaskets and reinstalled everything. Filled it up with fluid and went for a drive.

While the pressures are slightly elevated, they still hover near 100 PSI, dropping slightly while shifting gears, but the pressure never gets above 130.

As I increase throttle, the pressure momentarily increases to about 130 from 100, but then drops back to 100 right away and stays there.

The shift fron 2-3 at all throttle points LESS than 1/2, it shifts fine, but when you go past 1/2 throttle the flair exists and is really bad at WOT. I suspect this is due to the lack of pressure. I think that at 100 PSI, the pressure is sufficinet below 1/2 throttle, but since it does not increase with throttle, any more than 1/2 throttle, this static pressure of 100 is insufficient.

As well, I did the min/max TV test while in D2 and D1, and still, the pressure is not affected when the TV is pulled to max. The pressure remains approx. the same as at min TV.

Any suggestions as to what my next step should be?

Thanks again guys.

I guess the last things in the checklist for low pressure point to the pump. I think I will try a 7 vane stock pump with the better pressure regulator system I have in the current pump and see what happens. If the pressure is increased and functions correctly when I increase throttle, then It will have turned out to be the pump after all. With the new pump it will be interesting to see if that solves the issure of no TV in D2 and D1 as well; if indeed it is a seperate problem.

If not the pump, I won't even know where to look next. I hope I haven't killed my clutches. I could smell a burnt smell as the flair occured during the last roadtest.

Well guys, I swapped out the 13 vane pump today and put a stock 7 vane pump with hardened rings. IT WORKS!! :D My pressure now increases with throttle openings, and my 2-3 flair is gone! I'm so happy.

I took apart the faulty pump and I haven't come across anything that looks incorrect. I have no idea what the problem is with it. Maybe a blocked passage or something internally, or even a porous casting so that there is a leak internally.

Thanks Chris and eveyone for the troubleshooting advice.

Chris, at a later time I will order one of your blueprinted pumps as I don't trust the stock one.

Thanks again! :)

Well guys, here is the latest data with the "new" pump.

1000 Idle trans hot
Park....95...................250
Rev.....145.................200
Neut...95...................250
D4......95...................235
D3......95...................240
D2.....240-245...........240
D1.....230-235...........230

The trans seems to shift fine now with no flair shifting since the pump is actually able to supply proper pressure to the clutches, but what are the ramifications of not having any TV increase in D2 and D1? Should I be concerned?
