So what is the wierd lookin' one from and can it interchange with a stock style PR valve. Which is better for performance use? 005.jpg

So no one knows what this other PR valve is for vs a stocker....or we just aren't sharing. Maybe I'll toss it in my car and see what it does to pressure and rise for giggles.

The valve on the right has a higher pad for the pr valve spring to sit on increasing tension and line pressure. This in turn makes the tv limit valve over busy because of the increased pressure at idle and can initiate 2nd gear starts with long tv plunger springs in non BRF type valve bodies.Self cleaning grooves are present in the lower land,as well.I have seen these before and they do nothing but cost money .

We are making new valves that improve areas where the valve has shortcomings, the valve on he right was designed by Dean @ TRANSLAB many years ago.

So the one on the right would raise line pressure at idle. Would you say it could raise it enough to possible cause rear main thrust failure?

Actual main "Line" pressure is what is "available" for internal workings, converter "charge" pressure is a regulated "down" pressure.
If concerned about excessive "loading", test inline cooler pressures, remember that a restriction of any kind back through the lube circut is what creates the "head pressure" out of the converter, which is fed seperately but can (and will) be overwelmed by leakage past the pump rotor/slide assembly.
Good luck,

Kevin.
