Was messing with the car today and discovered 2 odd things.

1st. Just off idle I can hear a whistle. Tracked it down the the big vac hose going to pbb. It's not leaking, can just hear it whistle through the hose. Will probably change it anyway.

2nd. With car idling I shut the hood and noticed about a 100-150rpm drop. opened hood back up and idle picked up. So I laid a rag across the top of my air filter and rpm's dropped.
typical set up now.

Time for a "true" cold air intake. Probably going to place it behind d/s headlight in front of core support.

That's a clean looking engine bay. Which cold air intake you going to go with?

I installed the Tinman cold air intake and my IAT's dropped 40 degrees! It's way better than having a cone filter sitting in the engine bay. Oh, and my boost went up almost 2 psi with no other changes.

That leak could be at/ in the PBB check valve plastic piece. I'd take that piece and the hose running from it to investigate further. I believe you can purchase the plastic check valve if needed in the generic HELP section at the auto parts store.

If the hose is thinner wall wall rubber or silicone it could be collapsing some at full vacuum and whistling, mine did.

Always had good brakes and air flow just the annoying whistle.

I went with the approx. same size hose in thicker wall reinforced emissions rated hose, no more whistle. :)

PCV valve rated emissions hose.

Yep, that's what it is. Silicone and very soft. Can pinch it closed very easy.
Gonna replace it later today.

Has anyone dealt with this company?
Intercooler Pipe Fabrication - Silicone Intake Systems Auto Parts
Seems like good pricing on there stuff. Looking to relocate my air cleaner.

#1:
GNs never came with vacuum brakes, because they do not always have any vacuum available.

If a good, working pm isn't avail, go with the 84 / 85 hb setup.
