My buddy has a 12 second combo in his supercharged regal. He has a problem launching at the track. The car will not do a burnout even with the traction control disconnected. He can't hold it to heat up the drag radials good enough. What can be done to help with this? He said he used the e brake to hold it but that still wasn't very good. I've seen videos of guys with these cars just roasting the tires in the burnout box. What can he do or add to fix this problem? Thanks, Tim

ok you say with traction control disconnected

is he just pushing the traction control button ?

because the car will still apply brakes ,pull timing etc.. if it detects abuse - pull the abs fuse , pass door jamb ,bottom row , 3rd slot from left ,red 10 amp

trac off and abs lights will be on on dash , it kills trac control ,abs ,and magnasteer

if his problem is dragging the rears with the e brake set is he using the water box ?( should only do this with slicks or dr's street tires dont need a smoky burnout )

if he is pumping the rears up to 50 or 60 psi for less rolling resistance it will be hard to keep the car in place - not enough surface contact

or e brake adjustment is weak is all I can think of

He's running drag radials. It holds fine. The car will just not let him sit there and roast them very long before it shuts down. For the e brake technique, it holds fine but he has to just blip the gas over & over to keep it from shutting down. The fuse idea might be the trick. He had the traction control disabled in the computer but I'm sure the other stuff is not. I haven't seen him run in person so not exactly sure about the other details. I'll pass your info along to him. Thanks, Tim

Do those lights come on when you pull the fuse no matter what? Or do those lights never come on, when the pcm is modified to shut that stuff off. I have a zzp pcm, and I pulled the fuse, and those lights don't come on. Can someone please take a picture of exactly which fuse to pull? Because I can't read this fuse block diagram to save my life. It makes zero sense to me.

in your passenger door jamb at the end of the dash remove the cover for the fuses

on the bottom row of fuses the 3rd slot from the leftmost bottom corner should have a red 10 amp fuse in it - pull that one out and those 2 lights should come on as they did in my gs with a zzp pcm back in the day as well as every other one I have had with stock pcm's

it may not be the 3rd fuse depending on options but it should be the 3rd slot that can accept a fuse on the bottom.. starting your count on the left side moving right

Yep. I had 'er right. Red ten amp, 3rd from the lower left corner. It's out, and no lamps are illuminating :(

well I guess the next thing to check is if you can do a big nasty burnout without the car shutting itself down...

I think another method of doing a big burnout is just to disconnect the wheel speed sensors in the front.
