Ive got a 79 regal 455, 2004r combo having a problem with it down shifting. I place the indicator in drive and run the car to normal driving speed and slow for a stop light, the car wont down shift to 1st it will stay in drive, there is a B&M lockup switch installed and trans go shift kit. I'M getting tired of manually shifting my auto trans, when manually shifted the shifts are firm. Also its not locking up in OD. Sorry for my lack of knowledge in trans but I'm here to learn. I'm willing to do a search so please point me in the right direction.

No vac leaks. here is a pic of the t.v cable bracket I set the t.v by closing the throttle then pressing in button on cable housing and removing slack, then i moved it one more click tighter or toward the firewall to make it shift a little more firm. Sorry the pic is upside down.

What TV bracket, Geometry corrector & linkage is that? BTO?
Cable angle doesn't look correct and cable housing doesn't look secure either.

if you push the shifter to neutral then back to drive, does the trans start off in first?

I have a BTO setup on my 455 with QuickFuel carb. To adjust push the green button and set the cable adjust all the way back toward the firewall. Then open the throttle all the way and let it self adjust. Leave it that way. If you reset the cam adjust reset the TV.

Went out yesterday to adjust the t.v cable, when i pushed in the adjuster button and pull the cable hosing back the little ball at the end of the cable pulled off.
My question now is what one do I need, is there a certain cable that is better than the other, or just replace the one I have.
