Just had my 2004R rebuilt by Russ Merritt. My previous build with another vender included all the billet parts but it just wasn't right. It would slide into the next gear from the very first day. I got it back from Russ looking like it was just built by GM. The attention to detail is incredible. The exterior looks new. Installed it over the weekend and it works better than any tranny that has ever been in my GN. Shifts are crisp at low throttle and firm at full throttle. It works perfectly! No leaks, no issues, none! Russ is a fanatic when it comes to details. I have seen some of his work on friends turbo Regals and I am so very impressed to say the least.

Agreed.
Had mine built by him (along with my motor) and the work is top notch!!!

I'll be up there soon. Been fighting 2 issues. Car just won't hook. Any launch higher than 4 #'s boost will hook and very quickly unload resulting in tire spin and poor et's. Purchased new lower control arms (HR bars) to replace the old Southside bars. Will never do better than high 9's with 1.52 60'. The other issue is fuel. Running 72# injectors and running out of fuel at the top end. 1760 degrees at 22 #'s boost is way too hot. Intend to turn-up the boost to somewhere in the range of 24-25 #'s when I fix the fuel issue. Good luck with Melissa's car on Wednesday.

I don't know if she is goin or not yet.. I am sick and she may have to work:eek: damm "JOB" things :o If she goes she is only doin 1/8th mile

I have heard great stuff about Russ' work and it looks like your car is going to push it to the limit. ;)

What tire size are you running??
You can stuff in a 295/65/15 M/T with a 10" rim on a 4.5" backspacing. With a 30" tall tire you should have a hard time getting it to spin.

On your fuel issue, are you running one pump, stock fuel lines??
After upgrading to a -8 feedline and the Champion Rail I am surprised more guys don't do that to help the fuel systems back pressure issues on stock components.

Russ's trannys are top notch!!!
I stopped building to have him do them for me when i need them.
Keep it up Russ!!

Hey thanks a lot!!

Lets get her to the track and see how well it works! :) Should be a pretty good test trans as your car all figured out will go mid/low 9s. Def gotta get that 60' better. Melissa's has done well so far and I set yours up a lot like hers. Only a couple little differances. Main thing is, you can have it freshened locally now...... If your Art Carr converter ain't cuttin it, I have a kick ass PTC converter sittin here that will........Yeah duude!

Def good times buildin them........Except for that one, right Otto? Needed to call in Batman (Bruce) for that one...... Thank god for my California connection or I'd still be workin on it..... "I ain't givin up!!" ;)

I would have to agree. Russ is very anal. That is a good thing and usually indicates someone who takes a lot of PRIDE in their work.

Mike, sorry I didn't respond sooner. I'm running 10.5 X 29.5 Phoenix tires. Not sure yet what is going on back there. The fuel system doesn't appear to be the problem (1760 egt) as I have dual pumps and the fuel pressure is maintained throughout the run. The 72# injectors are at 100% duty cycle at 5500 rpm and higher. Motor is seeing 6400 rpm through the lights which is not good and calculations indicate a converter slippage of almost 17% with the Art Carr 9" "n" stall non-lockup. (I thank Russ Merritt for pointing this out to me). I know have a tighter "O" stall converter in there with hopes that it will lower rpm to possibly 6100-6200 through the lights. As Grumpy says, "let the car do the talking"

If your duty cycle is 100% you got a problem with one of the fuel pumps.
The injectors are getting close also
