Hey guys,

I am new to this forum but I heard this would be the place to get info on 2004rs. I was trying to find the right combination for my setup. I am running a sbc 400 (.40over) with (factory) vortec heads machined up to .550 lift with a xe268 cam, edelbrock 600 cfm carb, edelbrock vortec rpm performer intake (1500-6500). This will be a daily driver that I want to be a street preformer as well as for durability. Majority of the miles put on this engine will be hwy miles. Base on my #s it should give me around 375-450hp and 400-500lb-ft. Any advice on what I need to do to get the 2004r to be suitable for my setup for as the replacement parts, torque converter, and anything else that would make it possible for the above setup. Thanks in advance.

I would call Lonnie Diers @ extremeautomatics.com

He will not over sell you on anything. I love my 200....switched from a 400 and can't be happier.

Another vote for Lonnie here. He even tried to talk me out of the Stage III transmission that I bought saying that the Stage II would be fine in my car. No BS from him.

If you are looking for wot auto shift above 5500 I can also recommend what core to find to work with that engine combination. What is the rear end ratio?

Right now Chris I have 2.73 but I will end up having 3.23 posi once I complete the drivetrain.....

CR CT or OG codes will work good with that axle ratio and are real common when searching for a core.W. that size carb ,cam and 408 cid sbc the engine will pull good to 600 rpms believe it or not.Is it a long or short rod motor? What size header tubes?

It has the short standard rods (factory size rods) and flow tech long tube headers (Primary Tube Diameter -1 5/8 in)

Short rods and 600cfm carb ,rpm should be kept to a max of 5400.You dont want to push pistons thru the cylinder walls..040 overbore is ok with some 400 blocks, what is the block casting #s?

A stout N/A small block will find the 200-4R and a set of 4.10's an unbeatable combination, see Chris at CK performance for information/manuals if you wish to build it yourself, if you're looking for a complete unit built for your needs, again, look to Chris at CK, or Lonnie at Extreme, or Dave at Husek's,.....I've actually lost count on how many great 200-4R builders there are here, but you can bet money each of them earned their gray hair by every customer with a 600+ ft lb Turbo V6 trying to scare a driveshaft, might be just a few of those knuckle dragging types around here.
Good luck,

Kevin.
