I've got a rebuild VCR Video that I bought a while back and I would like to convert it to a DVD for the next rebuild. Does anyone know how to put this onto a DVD? I do have my old vcr player and a laptop that reads DVD's so is there a way to do this? I know this technically isn't a trans related question but I thought I could ask it here. Thanks

A couple of years ago I bought a little terratec converter. Plugs into the laptop and takes RCA video so I could create digitial video on laptop

Hi Paul,
You laptop must be able to read and write onto DVD, if your laptop only reads DVD it will not copy onto DVD.
If it does read and write onto DVD then try this EBay site as I'm thinking of trying this myself:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-EasyCAP...eo_Capture_TV_Tuner_Cards&hash=item5657990f13

The ebay thing looked good at first glance, but there was also alot of reading once I got looking further. What do you think? I'm just looking for a simple means of conversion. It is cheap enough though. Let me know. Thanks

I have the EasyCap converter. Used it years back to convert my vhss to dvd.
Definitely worth the $10.

Of this is a one time deal, look for an AV place close by that does it. Prices are usually reasonable and you don't need to buy anything or figure it out.

xrunner123, thanks but I did not see in the website how to convert my VHS tape to CD? Don't I need cables or something to plug into the VCR to my computer?

In addition to what gnonyx said..you will also need male to male RCA wires to connect the audio and video on the VCR to the easycap device.
The easycap does come with software to burn dvds so it may be easier to stick with what they provide.
Good luck.

Ok, I received the EASYCAP hardware and a software CD. I downloaded the program but that is far as it goes. No other instructions came with it so I'm not sure how to use it. Can anyone help? I play the tape but cannot figure out how to record it on the computer. There is a box for composite and a box for S-Video but it won't switch to composite and that is what I think I need. If any one that used this could help me I would be grateful.
