2004r shifter vs 700r4 shifter?

Wondering if experts know if a 700r4 aftermarket shifter will work on a 2004r?

I'm thinking the shift patterns and throws are the same enough to work, but maybe not?

My stock shifter worked for both so I don't see why an aftermarket would be different.
