2004R speedometer housing shaft seal

I was wondering about the seal that came with my kit for this, the stock one removed had a metal housing with a small spring that went around the OD of the seal lip, the one in the kit is a shorter one without the spring and metal outer can. Are these acceptable to use or should I find a new stock one?

I'd try the new one. Mostly because it's easy to remove and fix in the unlikely event that it does leak.

Use the updated one that comes in the overhaul kit. They work fine and do not cause wear on the steel shaft.
