Once again. I turn to my Turbo Buick brothers and sisters for a question about another brand of car. It seems only my Buick family knows how answer questions in a car forum. I am looking to buy this Ford Five hundred. Everything looks great. I have really kicked the tires. The only thing that looks odd is the power steering reservoir. The reservoir is semi clear and I can see the fluid sloshing around inside. This just seems odd. I have a Focus and it has a similar reservoir. I do not see the fluid sloshing around. Anyone have a 500 or another similar Ford that can look at there reservoir to see if this is normal. I would like to pick up this car in the next few hours. My daily driver was totaled and need a replacement today. 3 other Ford forums have not answered. Thanks in advance.

Ryan, buy it, it's good car. I bought a brand new SEL in '06 (see signature), still have it and never had a problem with it. It has probably one of the roomiest trunks you can find, and also has an excellent safety rating. Depending on what year you're getting, the engine will be either a 3.0L (in '05, '06, '07) or a 3.5L (available only in '08-'09)
The 3.0L doesn't make gobs of power, but is ok for most needs, but don't expect to win any drag race with it!... It's also economical for a car this size.

Claude.

P.S: Here's a link to a site about these cars on which I'm a member hope it helps!

and to think they are pretty cool loooking and when you decide to drop a TB powerplant in it you will still have a boxy car,but newer..:p

My company car is an '05 Five Hundred AWD with the 3.0. I picked it up brand new from the dealership and I now have 135,000 on the clock. All I've ever had to do is routine maintenance, front struts, brake pads, and tires. My car has the CVT transmission which I was a bit leary of when I first got it but it's never been a problem. The car still rides, drives, stops and runs great and is as solid as a vault!

wow you drive alot

One of my old sales guys had the awd with cvt and had nothing but praise for it. I wonder if the sloshing you are seeing is due to the variable rate power steering, at 0mph it may be by-passing a lot of fluid and that MAY be what you are seeing. Just a thought with absolutly no actual backup but I would say buy it. They are very dependable from the 5 guys that I know that have them at work. Jon Hanson

BUY IT... MORE ROOM THAN A MAYBACH:eek::eek: they are exellent cars, and get pretty good gas mileage for a car of its size. be sure to check the transmisson fluid from time to time, and be sure that if you refill the tank, fill it up more than halfway. We had a 2006 and it was an exellent car. Very comfortable. The steering reservoir is fine. does it have a CVT or a six speed?? stick with the 6 speed.

Knew I would get the response from you guys faster than any other site. But my wife wants an SUV. So we are picking up a Santa Fe tommorow. Darn...really liked the 500...like driving a couch. Thanks once again for the quick response.
