Has anyone heard if GM will be making the GNX in 2007? I've read that production will start in Sept. 2007 at a plant in Australia. I just do not know if it is true.

What about the 2009 GNX? Lol!

Let the GNX rest. I think it is a bad idea especially if they gonna put Chebby power under the hood.

they want to put an LS-x in it? gay. if they're gonna bring it back, it better be a world-beater like the original. anything less wouldn't be doing it justice. they better not make it look like crap like the newer GTOs, either. i'm thinkin something like the newer monte carlos that look like a modern version of a g-body (only not FWD like the montes), and with a turbo on it (don't care if it's a 6 or an 8, just so it screams).

From the PHR article:
If the U.S.-built Zetas were a reality, Buick could offer a base-model LS with a 3.5L 250hp V-6 for around $22,000, a 5.3L 300hp V-8 in GS trim for $27,000, and the granddaddy of them all--the 6.0L 400hp GNX for a transaction price of around $33,000. If you want to spank Chrysler, that's what it's going to take price-wise and performance-wise.

And the turbo? Forget about it. A major redesign of an available V-6 or V-8 engine (needed for a turbo) would cost too much and drive the price right into the stratosphere.

...

Are they just stupid?

a base model, a GS and then the GNX

Shouldnt they follow their past? base - GS - GSX or base, GN, GNX... no mix and match... and the older GS/GSX's had v8s, so why not use those designations instead... stupid PHR noobs... But since the GNX was so bad with it's twin turbos and such, we all know they should use that instead of GSX

EDIT: yeah, keep dreaming... I don't see this happening

It hasnt worked with the GTO . Not kncoking the car but its not as popular as GM hoped . Litdog I see you have a SVO . My brother has been holding on to his forever . The handleing is great but there is no value to them .they are great cars but they dont have the allure of our GN

With the 3800 dying soon, there will be no more "Buick" engines left anyway...

I can't believe this still keeps coming up!!!@!!!!%$#%*&*(&

I bet you will continue to hear it until it happens or we die. One of those things people keep dreaming about I guess.

Will this ever die?

The PHR magazine article is a concept from PHR, NOT GM

The second picture does not even match the concept PHR GNX, It is merely a photo shop of a GTO that someone did when they got bored. They wrote up an elaborate "press release" to go with it, complete with errors.

This has been gone over atleast 46328 times on this forum

there has been nothing out of buick resembling anything near a concept for a GNX

Yes, why not!!

I just hope that they DO make it even though I'm not counting on it at all... Although a lot of guys don't like the newer GTO ( I never understood why), I personnally like it and wouldn't mind at all if Buick had it's own version of it. Of course it would be great with a turbocharged 6 cyl. under the hood, but a V-8 wouldn't be bad either...People should stop complaining about the GTO...At least, it's rear-wheel-driven, has a V-8, and has a body which is in style with the 2000's trends. Even though I agree that the 60's and 70's GTO were absolutely great, I think it's time to move on to more "modern" looking cars.....including Buicks. Now don't get me wrong...I do love my '87 GN, but boxy square-shaped cars are a thing of the past now whether we want it or not...
Claude :)

Forget about Buick making anymore rwd cars... its over... I have heard from a very good source here in Houston, a Gm rep that its not happening.. as a matter of fact, Buick might be getting the ax...... I mean come on.. what have they made since the Turbo Regal? 87???? NOTHING!!

I love BUICK as much as the next guy, but I wish they would make a rear wheel drive car too, but its never going to come!! :frown:

GM gets thumbs down from me

The only promising affordable GM RWD turbo at this point appears the be the Solstice GXP that will be available for the 2007 model year. A lot of untapped power there but with the independant rear it wont be a straight line car. Imagine the amount of sales Buick could have had if they marketed the TR's the correct way. They might be even more desireable and more valuable than they already are today if they produced more and marketed correctly. No sense dwelling on it. I saw the potential when i was a 10 year old kid. Too bad Buick, or should we say GM didnt. Im sure there was a lot of disputes between marketing and engineering back in the day. The Corvette may be more to blame than we think for this.

Don't know if anyone ever saw or remembers a few years back - Nissan was buying back old Z cars (240,260,280's) refurbishing them -basically making them new again and reselling them with dealer warranty and all.

Now if GM did that, I might consider a "new" GN but otherwise, any new styling would be lost on us truly devoted flying brick fans...

Besides, if there's no turbo involved, I'm not interested. Just my 2 cents.

Glad to see at least on person read the article. It's just a daydream from PHR. They make it pretty clear in the article that they are just thinking out loud. And yes, the picture is just a GTO photochop.
