I've got my 327/300hp SBC with a 200r4 conversion, seems to run nice and shifts good. It's got a Trans-Go kit, TCI converter, and it's from a MCSS.

I've got the original rear with what I believe is 3.36 gears. I think 3.36 x .67 =
2.25 final gear ratio.

I have in the works a ford 9" conversion with 3.89 gears, 3.89 x .67 = 2.60 final.

My question is- am I going to feel much improvement?

Hoping this would wake things up in the city light to light.

Help??

You should go to 4.56. It will be very noticeable. I can give an example of this. I did a 200-4R for a guy last year with an olds cutlass and a 383 chevy with small hydraulic cam and he previously ran a best of 13.10@107. Best 60' was in the very high 1.80's. He switched from the 350 trans and 3.42 rear to the 200 and 4.10 gears and a converter that flashed to 3000 rpm. The car went 12.40@106. 60's in the mid 1.60's every time easily .7 just from gearing and torque converter. He even lost a mph from the extra drag in the OD trans and probably slightly more converter slip up top. I tried to talk him into a little more than 4.10's but he went with the 4.10 gear.
