on a performance rebuild, that already had Alto's in it, shouldnt the Alto reds been the clucthes in the inside of the forward drum and not the yellows? The area that takes 6-7. Those were the ones in my pic of cooked clutches. I went to put the new ones in and was replacing them as they came out and had 2 reds left over and not enough yellows, then I realized that Im pretty sure the ones I pulled out were put in the wrong place. The reds were still in good shape but were placed where there was only 4 required. I dont understand why the high performance reds would not have been where the most TQ was. I did also notice that they could easliy have been mixed up, maybe thats what happened when the trans was assembled and thats why it cooked so easily????

In a good quality build, that has good hydraulics, the type/brand of clutches is not as important as the execution IMO.
I would venture to say the original build was not up to the task.

But, it is "more common" the see the reds in the directs 6 stock.
