the springs are very soft in this governor, but i dont know what they should be like.

all i saw on the governor was the number 4 on one side and the letter G on the other side, and on one side with the spring inside there is a 3 and an A

on the gear i see a number 2

any idea if this is a 2.73 geared governor,or close to it??

im showing gears all the way to 3.23 in 1987 307 station wagons(KCF)

sounds like i have a shot in the dark here:confused:

oh well,time to get slimy:mad:

Have fun with it!

One question for you though, why are you replacing the govenor? Are you simply trying to get your speedo right? If so, you need to change the speedo gear, not the govenor. The govenor changes shift points, although it does change in relation to gear ratio, RPM, etc. Just want to make sure your doing the right thing! Good luck!

That governor is likely for something with rear gear in the 2's or low 3's. 2 heavy weights with med/heavy springs.

first off i would like to thank all the folks on this board that gave me advice on getting this governor situation straightned out.

i have a BRF 200r4 in a 85 delta 88 with 2.73 gears

shifting was ridiculous,i was getting 5 mpg just driving around town.and i never got over 40mph.

i couldnt drink a cup of coffee while driving, the sun visor would fall down in my face when i hit 2nd gear

i dreaded catching a red light, knowing this poor 307 and 7.5 rear was going to get it's ass kicked again

everything works fine now:biggrin:

the gear must be close to 2.73,my speedo is dead on

the shifts are where they should be,shifts are still firm but not neck snapping

Gotcha! I saw your post on another Impalla board. Glad you got'er fixed!
