Time marches on. Progress can be a really cool thing to watch, even if you're watching it from behind. ;)
BTW a bike is not a car. Juss' sayin'.

I do love the Mustangs just as much as the Buicks. I have been wrenching on them just as long too. Comparing cars is silly. mid 80's tech to today's tech are no where close. Each car has their own standing with car enthusiasts. Having that much hp with all of today's creature comforts is awesome, but it comes at a price........ If a Buick makes 773whp, it wouldn't just break into the 9 sec barrier, it would be closer to the 8 sec barrier with a really good sixty foot. Mind you that's just 1/4 mile. Highway and handling....... not so much. But I'm cool with that. lol

Not much of a Mustang guy myself but that's awesome. Would be a fun grocery getter.

your car was built with on purpose in mind- to be fast in a straight line for 1320 feet from a standing start..

these new super cars are made to do everything- go, turn, stop- and do it with the driver in noise free air conditioned comfort while getting 20+ mpg... once you start making 700hp or more with them, you have to decide what you want it to do, because it's not going to be able to do everything. if you keep the 19" wheels on it, you'll never get traction off the line. if you swap on some taller slicks in the back and skinnies up front with shocks to plant the tires off the line, then it won't turn or stop worth a crap. and if you do get it to where you can harness the power to the ground, then you need to start adding things like roll cages, safety harnesses, parachutes, fire suppression systems, blow proof bellhousings, and all sorts of other goodies that take the day to day usefulness out of them.

there is an article in the new Hot Rod that i just picked up today where they compare the new ZL1 Camaro and Shelby GT500 in the real world. side by side at the same time. pick it up- or just read it at the news stand.. it's an interesting read..

Yea, just read it myself. Neither car is my cup of tea however. I'd get tired of them in a month and be sorry I bought it. To give you a clue into my dark side I'd rather ride my really slow 48 Panhead or just slow 76 FLH and listen to the solid lifters, valves and chains rattling under me than any new bike no matter how fast or comfortable or how well it handles and I hate quiet. I like unconventional over store bought any day of the week that's why I drive the T or the F350 (soon to break into the 12's and I'm done promise honey). My next project is going to be a mid-high 12 sec 65 or 67 Riviera (can't make up my mind). My wife is already groaning "what's wrong with you, you're almost 60".

trust me its not just 12k on top of the price tag to go 9's.

How about 901 RWHP for $7K with a Kenne Belle upgrade?...... just another 125 RWHP , think mid to low 9's!

Look at the new thread.....
2013 Shelby GT500 stock motor with a Kenne-Bell 3.6 LC supercharger makes ......
