22*-23* knock at idle?

Anyone get crazy knock at idle? scanmaster shows all kinds of knock for one minute and then shut it down and resart a few times only to be normal with no knock. Car also has a miss and backfires under WOT sometimes.

On the odd occasion, I have had the SM show high (15-20) KR upon start-up when I had the exhaust dump opened. It usually went away within the next frame or two.

Have you checked the torque on the knock sensor? Have you tried an engine tie down to see if its mechanical knock causing the retard?

Just my first two thoughts....Of course, popping and misfires at WOT are something else again. Good luck.

There are alot of possibilities for that, anything from a bad serpentine belt, bad alt bearings, bad A/C clutch, etc.. Try finding any unusual noises, and get rid of them first. The bad belt deal may not make any noise, but still trigger the knock sensor.

I don't recall having a miss set of the K/S at idle, so I think you might have two problems.

What are your BLs?.

Knock sensor has never been out of the car so it should be factory torque, Car has poly mounts so I shouldn't need a torque strap.New dayco serp belt, and BL seems to be normal.

Ive had my scanmaster show that when it had a poor connection to the ALDL. Do you have any audible knock at startup? Like valvetrain noise from not having any oil up top?

I'll check the ALDL connection ,but there is no knock you can hear.
