I'm looking to get some Mickey Thompson ET street radials in the next week or so. After reading some posts about size I'm not sure what size to get. I've read that the 275/50/15 are the way to go but some people say they rub some say they don't. Some say they shouldn't go on a stock rim some say they're fine. Currently on the car I have 215/65/15goodyears on all four wheeels. Suspension is lowered in front 1" and stock in back with Moog springs and KYB shocks I have stock boxed lowers and uppers with poly bushings. I'm looking to get drag radials so I can take the car to the track this year at least once for a test and tune but mostly the car is driven on the street. So if anyone can help me decide it is much appreciated.

Your car should mph enough to need the 275/60/15's.

Speedo. will be off 3-4 mph with them.

They don't fit well at all on a 7" rim, neither do the other size however.

Air bags will work and need to stay pumped up on the street.

I'd consider an 8" rim and only use them or another sticky tire for racing.

Easy to swap 2 at the track.

They don't last too long on the street supposedly that may be a factor for you.

I guess it depends how much it's driven and how you want them to fit etc.

Just my .02.

Here's what the 275/60/15 DR looks like on the stock 7" GN rim. It clears the frame rails and the wheel lip. You may have slight rubbing on the frame rails on hard cornering.

So this next question is probably stupid but I'll ask it anyway. Why 275/60 and not 275/50? Would the speedo still be off more or less with the same with 275/50?

275/60 is a 28" tire, 275/50 should be around 26-27 depending on tire mfg.

The 275/50 would be closer to stock height, so your spedo would be more accurate with those.

My vote goes for the 275/60.

It should allow you to go through the traps still in the power band and not have to shift into 4th gear.

All that depends on your level of tune, power, rpm band of motor and tranny (shift points), and mph run at the track.

Over 112mph in the quarter and most use a larger tire and stay in 3rd gear.

Lots of things to consider here.

It may not look that great either with a tall tire out back and lowered up front. If that's an issue....

Just FYI MT 275/60/15s are not 28 inches tall.
Don't believe MT, they are under 27.5 on my car, installed on an 8 inch rim.
