hey guys im looking at going from my 28x11.5 hoosiers tires to there 29x11.50 tire that measures 29.3. reason being im having a hard time hooking on the street plus it seems the motor is right about 6k through the traps and dont want to change gears. im curious to see who has gone to a bigger then 28" tire on these cars and how they liked it, by the way this is for a bottom 10sec car. thanks for any responses

I use a 29 X 10 Goodyear slick with the 3:42's and like it very well....130 thru the traps at 6,000 rpm's

What mods did you have to make ? frame ? fender, wheel size and offset ?

George

Notched the frame, used a jigsaw on the fenderwheel lip to make for a little more room. 10" Centerline rims with a 4.5" backspace.

scott thanks thats what i wanted to hear i went 127 last year on a smaller combo this one is making a ton more power. just that up in the top end its right around 6000-6100 and i want to drop it down some more. thanks for the responses so far guys just wanted to make sure the car would not lost anything going to them

29'

I use a 29" Hoosier slick with a spacer and didnt have to notch anything with the 15x7 convo pro Centerlines.

Damn this post is right in what I am looking for my Buddie has a set of 29" tall 11.5 wide Hoosier Quick time Pros for sale
I want them but not sure they will fit with the 10" wide 4.5" B.S. Weld Pro stars I have. I had 28 11.5 M/T Et Streets on it now no probelms no Wheel well mods :)

If I go to this tire on this rim can I just roll the lip on the wheel well to make them fit?

I really cant pass on this deal! 200$ tires with maybe 8 pass's no street miles and the M/T Drag Tubes!!

Will they fit?? wont they fit??? Ya Na???

Thanks

im surprised there are not more guys running a 29" tire in the low 10's high 9's. guess im gonna try it out with stock gears and a th350

tire

Big Daddy is my wife's first born. He forgot to mention that his rear end housing is moved rearward 1/4 in. to keep the tires from rubbing the front of rear wheel well opening (with chrome trim piece on ) I also run 29 X 10 Goodyear slicks. Frame is notched and fender well opening is trimed. With those tires and 15X10 Weld Rodlites with 5in. backspacing. It will clear both inside and outer fender. Very little room to spare all around. It all depends on what tire--section width--rim backspacing. Hope this helps.

well to update this thread the tires are on and fit fine. the car does seem a little doggy with 29's, 3.42's and a th350 but it stil is not fully tuned. i have not made a full 3 gear pass but from what i can see they are gonna work nice and should give me some mph..... ill keep updating

Here are the several tires sizes I'm using...

I'm running Phoenix F/X slicks, 10.5''X28.5'' on 8'' rims. Although they sometimes rub (very little) on the frame especially when turning at the end of the track to get on the return road, they're ok going down the track. I did rolled the fender lip though...I'm quite sure they're the largest slicks you can stuff in there without having to notch the frame or tubbing...On the street, I've used P275-60-15's mounted on stock appearing 8'' wide GN wheels with no rubbing at all...but this year, I plan to use GNX-style wheels with 255-50-16's...

Claude :)
