what is a good one under $200? have an HP now, my second HP. Get jam up's to often. They have both done it.

Whatever you do....do not buy an Epson.

They require multiple ink cartridges that are quite expensive and it will not work if it detects low ink even if there is some ink left. The 3 in 1 is the only non HP printer I have and will definitely look to HP when this Epson bites the dust.

I just bought a HP 309g from Best Buy in November. Connects with either ethernet, usb, wireless, or bluetooth. It replaced my 1999 HP 895cse printer and 2000 HP 6300 scanner only because I can't find any Win7 drivers for the 6300. Both still work and are being used on my spare xp computer. Lolve the $10 ink cartridges, even if there is 5 of them.

I have an 8500 Series HP and love it. The ink lasts a pretty good while and these things can take a beating. I use them in pipeline construction field offices and they clip along well in that crappy environment. I think they run around $300, but are well worth it IMO.

Here ya go SIXBANGER...

One place I worked years ago had a copier that was always jamming. The service guy gave us a big lecture about putting the paper in the correct way. Not sure I believed him at the time but I have to say it did cut down the jams. Grab about an inch of paper from your package and lay it on your forearm longways from elbow to wrist and let it drape down. Look at the long edges and see if they curl up or down. Flip the stack over and check that side. According to him most paper will curl one way and the top is the side it curls away from. That means that if the edges curl up the top is the side touching your arm. Then look at your printer in the paper tray for that universal "this is the side the printer prints on" symbol. It will be a little rectangle with one corner folded down. If the printer prints on the side facing up when the paper is in the tray the large part of the symbol will have lines and the folded corner will be blank, and if the printer prints on the side facing down when the paper is in the tray the large part of the symbol will be blank and the folded corner will have the lines. Put the paper in the tray so that the "top" determined by the curl is the side that gets printed on. Remember, this advice is worth what you are paying, but it won't cost you anything to try, either, and at least now you know what that little symbol means :-). The other thing that can get you is humidity changes. It helps to let new paper sit in the room with the printer overnight before using it, so it can equilibrate with the room humidity. Especially important in damp summers and very dry winters.

Without getting bogged down looking at the details, what are the main differences between the two machines listed?

The more expensive one has double the memory (128 MB as opposed to 64 MB) and has wireless capability. That's about all I can see that's different according to the specs.
