0-1# stall - I understand this number, which is a very important number for a std. type converter.

What about flash stall?

Flash stall also changes with torque input to the converter. Boost makes torque, torque raises the stall.

If you launch at 10psi and 4000 rpm and boost ramps straight to 30 psi in 1 second your flash stall may be 5200 rpm. If it ramps to only 20psi, your flash stall may be 4800 rpm. I look at the rpm a converter drops to on the gear change and consider this the flash stall. The flash stall will also change with the amount of boost put to the engine. Which is also why I ask everyone for their desired et goals. The et goal gives me an idea of how much power the customer will put to a converter so it can be stalled properly for the combo. If someone has a 9.60 capable combo but want to run 10.70, the stall needs to be adjusted for that power level.
