I got a 327 that I'm thinking about selling but dont really have an idea what it's worth. Any one firmiliar with prices on these motors? Its a 64-67 block, with 1.72/1.50 heads according to the cast numbers. I was told it was rebuilt. It has a Edlebrock performer intake and a Holly 650 on top. Freshly painted block and heads, has harmonic balancer.Just trying to get an idea how much to sell it for. Any help would be appreciated.

hey that should add about $3.oo to it.:biggrin: couldn't resist. I would NOT want to know what it is worth today because I sold quite a few of them back in the day for next to nothing.
I am going through something like this right now too. It all depends on the casting #s and dates, also the condition. I bought a whole lot of SBC stuff, some is junk and some parts like double hump heads, OE intakes and others are worth a mint to the resto crowd.
No numbers as of yet, but I will just tell what I remember of when I looked up the cast numbers from a website. 64-67 2 bolt main 327 out of a truck, 300 HP. 1.72/1.50 heads. From what I was told the motor orig. came out of a 66 Chevy truck. When I bought it, it was in a different Chevy truck and ran awesome. Didnt smoke, or feel "tired". I am still waiting on my friend to send me the cast numbers. Thanks for input so far.

As mentioned, a Corvette 327 can mean some good dollars. The truck versions aren't worth near as much.
Hard to say since you really don't know if it was rebuilt, or rebuilt with "engine tune up in a rattle can". If it runs good and holds good oil pressure, it would be worth maybe $500 as is. More if you can prove it's been redone.
I see by your sig you were thinking of dropping it in your S-10.....what's stopping you? An S-10 with a nicely built 327 will haul ass. This coming from a former small blocked S-10 guy.

Theres a couple reasons I probebly wont drop it in my s10. I have a new family and on a military pay budget, being deployed all the time, and the wife yellin about all the crap I got, somethings gotta go. I get back from Iraq mid October with just enough time to sell my Harley there. I leave Germany in Feb to go to Ft. Bragg. Once I get there, I hope to be down to 3 vehicles because I am tired of moving all my stuff around. Too bad the Buick wasnt in Germany with me, could have been fun on the autobahn, atleast better than a 3 series BMW. Getting rid of some stuff will build a gateway to more parts on the Buick. Anyone one in or around the area of Ft. Bragg?? I will need a fellow Buick guy around to show me some cool places around there.

Cool places around....not really any....in fact, Fayetteville (we knew it as Fayettenam) is pretty much pawn shops, used car lots, bars, clubs, loan sharks, more bars, about 4 Wal Marts, all the eateries you could think of....plus the over population of the city (mostly Army, retired Army) and the ever non stop of bumper to bumper traffic with road ragers behind the wheel.
But if you're willing to travel, Raleigh is an hr. away and has some nice places so I heard (never did check out myself) and the beach is 2.5 hrs east and the Smokey Mountains are 2.5 hrs west....both I have been to and are nice. But yeah no real attractions around town.
Friday nights from April until October on Hope Mills Rd (HWY 59) at the Sonic/Advance Auto lot they have a nice little car show, mostly muscle cars, classic cars. The pres. (James Smith) has connections on all the good car shows around town and can hook you up. He usually drives his 56 Caddy out there.
benoitthegr8 lives there and could probably also give you a few pointers. Try and live in Southern Pines if you can, it's a bit nicer than in town.
Anyways good luck on your engine sale, sucks to not be able to drop it in your S-10. I wished I could find a H.O. 305/700R4 from a 92 Camaro to drop in my little S-10 just for a fast little daily driver beater truck, but I'm in the same boat no cash.

Check the block and head casting numbers. Here is a really good book for casting numbers Cars & Parts Catalog of Chevy V-8 Engine Casting Numbers 1955-1993 and Stamped Numbers . If the casting numbers interchange with a Corvette, Chevelle, Impala, etc it should be worth something to a collector. They will just deck the block and restamp it to match there car. More than likely it is not Chevy II block. They use their own casting.
This is a 327 I built for my Jaguar,it was a heavy car and I had the best of everything on it and it only saw high 13s...with a 400 it would have went that fast with a cam only probably..

Yeah, Im going to Bragg, might as well make my permenant address Iraq. Either that or Im going to Afganistan. Im only on assignment, so Im trying to get with my branch manager and try to get Ft Gordon GA. Maybe I wont spend the rest of my military career in the desert. On the note of the engine, my buddy is sending me the numbers when he gets off work tonight US time, so I will post them when I get them
Or every 350 is a Vette engine. I just laugh. To me "Vette engine" doesn't mean jack unless it's a 7.0 liter LS7.
