3k dollar engine build suggestions please

Okay, I'm trying to build an engine for around 3k (give or take) for a Zcar. At first I was seriously considering an LT-1 or LS1 because I could use the 6-speed tranny, but from the info I've gathered browsing this site I think I can get much more oommph for the cash that I've got using the turbo six. What I'm trying to find out is in what order I should upgrade the engine and what upgrades make the most difference. I would like to make this a street engine, but it will be a second car, so a little unstreetability is acceptable since I won't be driving it every day. What hp and tq #'s can I see with a 3k investment. Also what tranny choices would I have and what upgrades would need to be made if I wanna keep it manual.

You can get in the 11's for under 2K.

BTW, stick with an auto trans.

If you got the turbo motor free, it would still cost you more than $3000 just to get it running. Of course it will not bolt up to your 6 speed tranny, which would only slow it down anyway.

You need a complete wiring harness and it would need to be integrated into the exsisting one. The guys that have done hybrid conversions could tell you how much work and $$$$ it involves. They usually start with a car that is gutted and still have lots of mods to do.
