The 3rd to 2nd gear downshift bump my freshly rebuilt $1500 TH2004R trans has, it is out of an 84 Hurst OZ code with 83 OZ internals I believe. Let's just say it's an 83 OZ.
I was told by a friend that the builder left out a component or used a wrong spring of sorts.
Can anyone explain in more detail on how to fix this?
I've only put probably 25-40 miles on the trans because Im afraid it's going to lead to long term damage and Ive haven't had any time to look into it further due to the weather and being very busy with life.

Is it a servo issue?
Is there a missing component with the servo used?
The stock 83 OZ servo was replaced with something a little stronger, I don't have the exact details though.
Thanks in advance!

Found out a Monte SS servo was installed when the trans was built but I'm not sure if the cushion spring was left out.

1. If I just leave the harder 3-2 downshift as is will it harm the trans?

I know it's more pronounced with an older rear end and U-joint.

2. How hard is it to replace the servo or add in a spring if it's missing?

Are there any build links anyone knows about?
Will things come lose and cause a world of hurt if I slide out the servo

I have the original 83 OZ servo, will I still most likely have the firmer shifts if I swap out the Monte SS servo (are these servos very similar?)

3. What are my spring choices if I decide to change the spring and keep the Monte SS servo?

thanks guys!
