4.42@328 quickest pass ever

I got to witness the quickest 1/4 mile pass ever today at Route 66 raceway! Hats off to Doug Kalitta and the crew.
Congrats also go out to Whit Bazemore and crew for recording a blistering 4.71@333 fastest ever funny car run.
Track conditions were ideal today as always at Rte 66, one of the finest drag racing facilities out there.

I saw it on ESPN last night during the tape delay - that was an incredible run. Brandon also might have got a record speed had he not had to back out of it to avoid a blowover. He was THAT close to losing that rail!

And how about Force's miracle that Tony P gave him by going over the centerline? Who would have thought that THAT would have happened? Tony had it nailed but he didn't know the condition of Force's dead-to-the-world-at-the-time car!

Yeah that was kinda hairy for Brandon, he got out just in time!
I saw quite a few fuelers start carrying the front tires between 330 and 660 ft. I think the track was just sucking up everything
they were throwing at it, hardly anybody went up in smoke.

Force did get lucky, his car sounded way sick at the line.
That has to be emotionally wrenching for Tony P to give it away like that.

Raymond- You've got to go watch these cars once, I guarantee you'll be glad you made the effort and you'll probably want to do it again. Nitro has that effect on people

Who knows how fast these things can possibly get, it already seems they are at the physical limitations of the tires and not to mention the safety factor of speeds that high on a quarter mile track with limited shut down area. That's an interesting topic, how about the physical limitations of the drivers too?
They're subjected to 4G's of force during the run then a negative 4G's when the chutes deploy...all in a matter of about 5 seconds.
Joe Amato was forced to retire from driving because the massive G-force was destroying his eyeballs.

If a top fueler is stopped at the starting line and a bike passes him at 200 mph; and the fueler hits it right as the bike passes him; the fueler will catch and pass him at the same speed at or with in the 1/8 mile.

I went for my first time last year when the NHRA came to Ennis,Tx.Got to meet John Force and sit and talk with him and several others during the weekend.Went into Dean Skuza's trailer for about 20min and chat with him about PHR TV and all kinds of stuff.These are some of the best people in motorsports.And The Race Cars Are UNREAL!!!! When they finish the 90min turnaround and fire off those Top Fueler's and your standing there eyes,watterin',you can't hear nothing but motor,it's HEAVEN!

7000+Hp going by you at 4sec is AWESOME!!! The Earth moves underneath you and your whole body shakes from the inside out.

I'll be there again this year.Best $150 bucks I ever spent.Legally

Can you imagine blowing by a car that is sitting still at 200 mph, only to have that same car rattle your brain as it passes you by within three seconds? Damn.....that's unreal.

Awesome experience!

I always make it a point to catch the pros at E-Town for the Supernationals. The event is held during a hot time of the year so I don't expect to see many record runs although we are pretty close to sea level.

I like to go on Friday and watch qualifying. Everybody runs hard to make the 16 car field and then you can catch them in the pit during teardowns. ALL of the senses are attacked during a pre-run "fire-up".

My favorite part is night qualifying where you can see the header flames.

everything else in the world stop, the smell of the greenish nitro
fumes chokes you to the point where you can't breathe and your

it's all over and start looking for the next car ready to fire up.

If you are a true drag race fan you HAVE TO make at least one National Event. The Coverage on TV does not compare. Watching the cars go down the track in person really shows how skilled the drivers are. Im looking forward to SuperNationals at E-Town....Always a good time!

That doesn't sound right, I think the bike would beat him to the finish line...


check the math:

200MPH = 3.33333333333333 miles per minute (200/60)

3.333333333333 MPM = .055555555555 MPSecond (3.333333/60)

.055555555 mile = 293.3333' (5280*.0555555555)

that's 293.3333' per second @ 200MPH

1320/293.3333 = 4.5 second 1/4 mile time

Not factoring reaction times and if the Fueler left at the precise moment the bike and car were even...

or did I miss something? I am a little weary (I had a friend call me at 4:15 this morning and I am trying to stay awake instead of going back to sleep....)


If you haven't seen the fuelers in person, that is a must see event. Nothing like not being able to breathe for a few seconds as they pass by... note to the first timer: you will think the burn out is loud and impressive... wait for the run.

I took my wife to the drags at the nationals in PHX for her first time ever to drag races... now if we go to the Friday night drags she is bored with 9 and 10 second passes... I spoiled her.
