4" DP Pan. Recommendations for pickup/filter?

I bought one of your 4" trans pans used and it came with the adapter tube to use the 2004R filter. I would rather use the bottom feeder/filter setup you make. Is the difference/advantage worth the extra cost to get the bottom feeder and why? Assume you are still making the BF setup for the deep pan?
