I´ve run into some problems after a transmission rebuild:
1st. The engine is rewing much higher now. When doing 65, it´s about 3500rpms, and before rebuild it was 1800rpms. Is this because of the new TC (9x11" 3400)

2nd. It doesn´t downshift ok when warm. Sometimes it will go as low as 400rpms before it downshifts to first

3rd. It also feels like the lockup is always engaged. It´s not engaged in the chip. Could it be the solenoid? Somewhay to check this out?

4th. I lost my reverse. I put in the reverse and took it out of my garage in the morning, and it worked as it should. I went over to a friends house, and after 20 min we where to leave, but the reverse didn´t engage. Forward works, but not reverse.

I´ve only driven it ~ 120 miles since rebuild, with only three hard accelerations. I tried the transbreak once, just to check how much boost it could hold.

Picture of the cooler

Thanks in advance

Well, I broke the tranny apart tonight. It was the direct clutch pack that was gone  And that´s in a just rebuilt tranny. I really don´t get it.

Lunkan, did you do the rebuild yourself ?? what do you figure caused this break down so soon. the reason I ask is because
I'm rebuilding my tranny myself, first time for me, and need to know what to look for, the last thing I want to do is have to take it out a second time. good luck,
Vern

Vern, no I had a mechanic do the rebuild. I whent over to him last evening and took it down, but we took it apart together.

He told me the tolerances where set by the book. I´ve tried the T-brake once since rebuild, and he thought it must have gone at that time.

Do you know what your line press. was? I think the t. brake uses direct clutches to lock & if not enough press. maybe they slipped & fried.

Just a thought as I'm no GARU:D

I never checked the linepressure before it happend, but afterwards it went to 12 and immediately dropped down to 0.5

All forward pressure where as they should, but not reverse. I don´t get it, as it was the direct clutch that was gone.

not to be mean, but your trans was so messed up after a rebuild I did not know where to start! lol Id say your tc solenoid is def stuck..

I can take an honest answer, so it would have been appreciated if You had take Your time trying to answer.

I bought a new TC solenoid. But when we ohm´ed the stock solenoid, it was ok (according to the mechanic). It also sounded like it engaged, but that doesn´t say it´s bad or get stuck when the temperature is rising.

know whats funny? A friend just had his trans rebuilt on his TR and the exact same thing happened. The converter stayed locked right after the 1-2 shift.. It was fine before the rebuild.. Thats weird.. I told him to replace the TCC solenoid..

Ahh, that was very interesting. Have You heard anything, if it solved the problem?

I talked to him today and he said it was fine.. ?? I guess it came unstuck.. somehow.. ?? Im puzzeled..

I think it's locking up when it's warm. I can't drive the car right now due to some other issues but when I moved it a few blocks I noticed it was fine but the car never really got to temp. I should have the car back sometime by the end of this week hopefully and I'll let you know if it's still locking up cold.

oh BTW I'm the friend FlyinGN is talking about :) Post what u find and I'll do the same when I can

Thanks for the info. Right now, I´m waiting for the mechanic to call me back. He should have checked if there´s anything else that´s gone (hopefully not). Then I need to get the parts, as I have hard to see that anyone in Sweden holds these parts in stock.

I´ll get back as soon as I know anything.
