whats the best donar car for a 4 speed tranny, pedals, and tranny tunnel to convert a regal to a 4 speed. this is one mod that my cuzin would really like to do

You can purchase all the stuff off Ebay. Malibu clutch stuff fits perfect on the Regal.

Is this for a turbo Buick? I don't know for sure but, If it is I don't think the stock 3.8 turbo motor will handle the load and unload abuse and rpms typically associated with a manual tranny and I assume the crank is not even set up for a pilot bushing. 9 out of 10 times I prefer a stick but I don't think it'd work well in these cars. That said I'd sure love to see and drive one.

there are a few on here that have a manual in their cars. All of the RWD factory cranks are made for a pilot bushing so it's not a problem. We discused this a while ago and you need a BOV that's routed back into the turbo to keep the spool moving without burping it. An 84-85 intake is the best from what I've seen but you could do it with an 86-87 as well. If I can find the thread I'll post it.

78-81 or so Malibu or El Camino would be the best place to look, but there were some factory 4 speed Cutlasses- and even a few 5 speed 78-79 Cutlasses.
but if you can't find any- they are kind of rare- almost all of the parts are being reproduced these days. i think the only part that isn't made is the bellhousing, but if you use a hydraulic throwout bearing you could use whatever bellhousing you can find and would only need to buy the pedals and not any of the stock linkage setup.

this car is no where near stock. he's got a 1970 (IIRC) 455 bord out to 462ci think he's got a flywheel, but needs everything else, but i know this mod wont be done in the near future, just tryin to get some info for him

works great in these cars. no problems except the torque makes waste of cheesy 5 speeds!

ok if he can get the pedals and linkage from a malibu/elco, would the tranny tunnel fit in the regal too?

The only mod to the floorpan or tunnel is the addition of a shifter tower that was welded to the tunnel. Here's where you can find everything but that tower Steering Column, Shifter, and Console Parts, etc. and here's a pic of what a factory shifter looks like. I've looked all over and can't seem to find anybody reproducing that shifter tower. I've got a few I've cut out of parts cars but they aint for sale. Maybe you could fab something using that plastic interior trim that the boot mounts to as a pattern?
