What's the difference between a blue stripe & a green stripe injector?

Why are they sometimes referred to as "009" injectors?

Are they overkill for a stock setup (only using an adj fuel reg & 42.5 chip)?

There's also the Limetop Bosch 42.5's the Ford Lightning injectors.

I think they are considered the most linear ones of that bunch and size.

I'd put the Bosch Limetops on any car, the other two I wouldn't want to use personally. There's plenty of linear injectors out there to choose from.

Eric at T.T. has good chips for them as does Full Throttle with the translator chips.

If buying New go straight to the Hi-Z 60's.

I had the same question for Eric at TT. He said that the stock injectors are good for the stock turbo as long as they are in good shape. He also said the 42.5lbs injectors will work, but the stock turbo limits airflow so a stock turbo/IC/etc. won't be able to take advantage of the extra fuel delivery with 42.5 lbs injectors.

I'm not sure why this is the case - i speculate that the stock turbo air flow restriction means that the boost PSI would have to be very high in order to stoichiometrically use the extra fuel. can only do that with race gas, or alcohol, water, etc. injection. other stuff in the stock engine might also break.

is the TT injector/chip deal worth it if you are unsure of the stock injectors? testing injectors is almost as expensive as new ones.

not sure how a stock turbo could take advantage of 60lbs injectors if 42.5lbs is a little too much fuel

I know with old school upgrades, putting a bigger carb than the engine
can handle may actually hinder performance.

Sounds like possibly the same thing here, without any supporting mods bigger
injecters won't improve performance. True statement?

With a properly burned chip larger injectors wont be adding too much fuel even with a stock turbo. The stock turbo and stock injectors run out of steam at about the same point which is usually in the low 12's so adding bigger injectors with a stock turbo wont really get you any gain because the turbo is maxed out so there is no more airflow to be had so no more fuel is needed. The reason SalavageV6 suggested going straight the 60's if you buy new is because the 60's are reasonably priced, work with the stock ECM, have great idle qaulity and will work on a stock car(with a proper chip) and will take well into the 10's if you decide to upgrade later so likely they will be the only injectors you will ever need unless you really upgrade and try to get into the 9's!

I ran 42.5 009's with a stock turbo with NO problems with Eric's chips. Stock turbo got damaged, moved up to a TA-49, same injectors. With Eric's chip software, it doesnt really matter what injector you run. You gotta figure out what your goals for the car are. My daily is not being modded much more than it already is. So 009s work in my situation. If I had another "toy" that I was starting to modify I would go straight to 60's like salvaged said. Figure out your goals for the car and buy the parts ONCE, LOL. Who am I kidding, that never happens!

to original poster...

The ford lightning "green top" injectors are designed to not clog, and are very reliable. I would replace those 22 yr old injectors with something a little more updated:rolleyes: If you find a good deal on green tops, get them. If you are buying new you can go as big as 83s for the stock ecm.
