LOL:eek:

Some people put way too much money and fancy mods and all you really need to do is KISS(keep It Simple Stupid)

My first t-type had 100,000+ plus miles. I think thats why I sixty footed in the low 1.60's all day because the suspension was worn out. ;) I sure didnt have an extra nickel to put in suspension mods...I was lucky back then to scrap some $$ up for octane booster to go the track.

When you get to the track try a bigger burnout. Something isn't right if you're only cutting a 2.09 60 on et streets. I've cut 2.1 60's on 235/60-15 good year radial t/a's and that was with a combo tuned to run low 13's and all stock suspension. If a bigger burnout doesn't help them stick then you most likely need allot of work on your technique.

Well, the 3psi on ft brake is one of your issues. Your brakes are more than likely worn out in the rear. Do a search on here for rear brake setups. You can put the S-10 aluminum drums on the back and loose 5lbs of rotating mass at the same time and put two of the "long" shoes in the drum. I went from not being able to hold more than 5psi on the line to being able to hold 10-12 from just changing my pads....

Do a full spring cleaning and a good brake job, nice burnout, and try to hold them to 5-10psi and HANG ON! Even a modest 1.8 60ft will feel like ridiculous if thats the lowest 60ft you have ever cut!

Now you can go more in depth and add an air bag(s) to the rear end and upgrade your lower control arms, but you should be down in the 1.7s before you need anything more.

1.62 60ft with 255/60/15 MT Street ET's, transbrake, Edelbrock lower arms and air bags.

Thanks for all the good info everyone..........Now I have a starting point...

i put some 275/50/15 MT DRs on last night and finally got to try them on the street tonight all i have to say is wow!!! two week ago i went to the track and getting 2.30 fo 60' and i got to say the car never pull like it did to night cant wait to hit the track friday night

i went with 275/50/15 on stock rims and they fit like they were ment for the car but people 275/60/r15 but they are tight from what i read

On a "stock-ish" car i would go with the 50s. They are the stock 26in diameter vs the 60s being 2in taller. You wont need a 28in tall tire until your into the 11s. They will actually hurt your performance on a stock or near stock car.

my best is a 1.52 with all stock suspension except homemade boxed lower control arms. 28x9 ET drag and a transbrake launch.

If you don't have a line-lock get one or you'll heat your rear brakes too much doing a burn-out and they will never hold. When building boost stand on the brakes HARD like this -

What is Needed to box in the lower control arms?

How big of tires can you go with stock rims?

reaper save yourself some time and money get the umi bars upper and lower for 220.they are tubular have the new bushings installed and alot of guys carry the fronts with these bars.i have them and love them

Do you have a link?

ET Streets suck, I have them on my 69 GTO and can't wait to burn them off this year. M/T Street Drag Radials is your ticket to traction. :)

I also agree with Adam, your rear brakes are why you are spinning at 3psi. Bigger cylinders and one big shoe is the key to foot braking with more psi, at least 5psi as long as the converter will open up.

If you want to slam in the biggest tire with the stock rim, you'll need to do a few things. 275/60 is probably going to need the aluminum drums on the car to gain the 1/8th it puts the tire towards the wheel well. Some can get away without the aluminums but some rub and you might also need to roll the lip. But it's a 28" tall tire that can hook and MPH. ;)

Boxing the stock arms is pretty easy for any decent muffler shop, I'd recommend the poly bushings while you are there to help wheel hop.

From that alone you can drop that 60ft into the 1.6 range and the rest is a slew of other stuff.

How size tires can you go with on stock rims with no probs..?What year S10 do you get the Drums off of and What do you mean by getting "long" shoes in the drum....Do you have to buy 2 sets of rears and just use the long ones?
