So I send my PT-54 turbo to Precision to have it rebuilt due to some smoking under acceleration, and they email the shop that sent it in for me, claiming that its in "real bad shape" and they want $700 to fix it or sell me a "new style" one for $595. Is it just me or do they need to put down the drugs? This thing has less than 5000 miles on it, 1700 of that was breakin miles on a brand new motor. What should I do.....

I'd say call them and speak direct to someone there. They may have made a mistake, it sounds like it...

Get the new turbo from someone else. :p

Try limit engineering for a rebuild quote.

Might be due to it being an older turbo and parts availability.

Kind of like if you have a DVD player thats broken. You can send it in and get it fixed for $100, or you can just buy a new one for $80. :D

Buy a new turbo not used. There are posts here guys claiming they sent turbo off and had it rebuilt for $100- 300. My luck is like yours.

Limit quoted me $525 to take my PT 51 and turn it into a 61 something today.

i called precision and they told me $180.00 to rebuild my te-60 and also $75.00 for an exhaust wheel so it will be $255.00. i would call them and see maybe the shop that sent it in are trying to make a profit. precision also did tell me i could by a new version for $575.00

they told me 130 for my gt-52 and i sent it to them on monday and they said it will take 10 busness days to get it rebuilt.

Precision is on crack. Its a different price everytime u call depending on who u talk to.Limit is the way to go......

not a bad deal from precision.

new bearings, housing, seals, new exhaust housing. all for $270 and 6 days turnaround.

and i found out i dont have a gt-52 i have a gt 60-67 p trim
