Anyone have a rough idea of the HP difference of a 70GTQ with a .63 exhaust housing versus one with a .85 housing....

Anybody?...don't need exact numbers...just curious if I'm losing a lot or a minimal amount of HP with the .63 housing...one good thing is it does spool quick...

Looking at your combination, I would say you are not losing much, or anything at all.

Most are aware the pte .63 a/r turbine housing is larger than a standard garrett .63. It probably flows as well or close to the garrett .82

Going from the current pte .63 to .85 will slow turbine speed down at your lower rpm's, hense slower spool. I believe with your combo what you would gain at the big end of the track, would be negated by slower short times in the 60' or at 330'. Unless you could overcome slower spool by launching alot harder at higher rpm.
In addition of course, the lose of quicker spool on the street would be more pronounced with the .85 a/r

The larger cube engines or higher rpm engines, of course would benefit more with the use of the .85. The higher rpms and/or cubes tend to generate more back pressure and steping up to the .85 will help reduce that effect.

My vote would be to stay with the .63 unless you plan some other major changes to your combo.

Just my .02

Joe
