78 3.8 turbo alky question

Hi im curious if you need to use the electric spark control if you are running alky. Can i eliminate the e.s.k and use a knock sensor to a dummy light for saftery. And hook the distributor up to a vac line.. what do you guys think?? I got the motor complete for 300 bucks so im making a cool little project out of it just looking for some suggestions thanks for any info thanks guys

I wouldn't disconnect it. Even with alky, you will want to push the limits of boost and will knock some.

If you don't use the ESC, you can run a knock sensor, module and gauge from a 83/87 TR. You will have lights to warn you, but your foot won't be anywhere near as fast as the ESC module.

There are other options now rather than using the stock knock control system but it's a bit pricey. Look up J&S electronics and you should get some ideas.
