I have only had my GN about a month and have been doing a lot of research.I am almost outta money for now,and I ahve so much more to do.the mods I have done so far are:1-spring cleaning
2-Racetronix walbro 340 pump/hot wire
3-9"K&N filter
4-Thrasher 92 chip
5-posi unit
6-scanmaster
7-bosch 237
8-4 core radiator
9-got all hoses and sensors up to snuff car is running good
My question is if you had 800 bucks to spend where would you put it?

1-Cas v4 intercooler(don't really want front mount cuz I am more of a streeter, still want everything to run cool)
...But with the 4 core radiator I might be able to pull it off with a front mount?
2-different turbo
3-cold air kit
4-SMC alky kit....please help me out only have a little money left and want to make it count!!!!!
thanks alot,
Jim in Jax

Thats easy!, Turbo/injectors...

Get some 50lb inj. and maybe a TE44(or larger). Then all your going to need is traction.

Oh, and your going to need a street/race chip for that combo, I think you could get all this for ~$800.

Big mouth cold air kit, injectors, Translator and maf.

i just bought some 50# injs from Racetronix for $300. he said he only has a handful left. id get them while they're hot so to speak:) im sure you can find a te-44 turbo for $500 quite easily.
codl air kit you can make yourself for $25 or less.

good idea since your a street car but you can make your own kit. i have a few friends who have made their own. it works well fo them. there is also propane kits fom jay carter and IPO. people hagve reported very good results w/these new propane kits. here is a write by a forum member named steve monroe on making your onw alky setup, just click on building your own budget alky system http://home.att.net/~stevemon/Projects.html

I'm far from an expert, but people have run pretty good on the stock turbo. If your car is primarily a street car you might want to consider upgraded injectors I see blue tops on sale here all the time for 200 bucks. Get alcohol injection and maybe a big neck for your stock intercooler. Doing all that you should still have a little left to get some decent tires for the track.

Power plate - $60.00
bigger injectors - $200.00 - 300.00
MaxEffort chip - $360.00
cold air set up

go have fun

I feel you'd be much happier with a TE44 on the street, but weither you keep the stock turbo or not, DO NOT make the mistake of buying any injectors smaller then 50lbs. You will kick yourself later if you do.

ok simple

do not use the 50# injectors...why...do you have a big cam..NO,bigger turbo..NO,Bigger intercooler..NO,Head work done....NO....Exhaust etc...toback all that fuel..NOOOOOOOOO.If you only have 800.00..Then buy the t-49 turbo...Dont believe me? Call JACK COTTON...He builds them and is very good at it...Remember any good combination works....big mix mathed stuff well you know. Heres jack cottons performance no#413 789-0531.Read my collage of parts...my signature...I run 12.0s with ZERO knock and im still tuning.do yourself a favor and ask the pros..call jack...he hooked me up.

i agree w/viperkiller. call Jack. i talked to him for over 30 mins yesterday about my car. he is a very nice guy to talk to and will answer any of your questions. i will probably be doing business w/him in the near future.:D

I’d get the injectors and use the rest to start saving for a Turbonetics with the Ceramic Ball- Bearing Option.

http://www.turboneticsinc.com/catalog/ceramic.html (CERAMIC BALL- BEARING OPTION)

I’d get a 60 series if I was you. You talked about keeping it streetable, the Ceramic Ball- Bearing Option will help this VERY MUCH!!! This option reduces friction and hence the spool up time is much less. It takes 50% less energy to spool up a Ceramic Ball- Bearing Option turbo in comparison to a similar sized turbo. Therefore, you can use a big turbo and get the top end power of that big turbo and not loss the spool up time, like a small turbo. This all means that it is GREAT for the street!!!!!! But don’t just take my word.

great starting line perfomance....
lower et’s....”

You can get these turbos from Jack Cotton.

Hope this helps!!!!!

You can get the 50# inj. to idle, and supply fuel like the stock ones, plus you will have plenty of room to upgrade. and don't even mess with a TA49, go TE44 because it flows more and looks better(same size turbo diff. housing). A TE44 can max out 36# inj. . I went the bluetop route once, maxed 'em out, and had to upgrade. Save yourself the money, and time, by doing it right the first time!

I'll chime in here. I hate to see you mod this car. It's one of the nicest locally. Your $800 will be the beginning, so it should probably be the foundation to build upon. A bigger turbo would be a good idea since it will be harder to purchase that later since its the most money. If you do get a new turbo, get the oil filter relocation kit so it always has clean oil right away. Then you can get injectors or a stretch int or both.
Since your getting a new radiator, throw on dual fans, and don't worry about a front mount. and you will need tires to hold this car down.

The first upgrade would be an adjustable fuel reg. I dont belive the 237 is adjustable, is it ?? Next up, IMO, would be a Powerplate, injectors, alky is sweet if you like boost. Its all a matter of how fast you wanna go. Plan out your completed car now, and that will save you $$ in the long run. Upgrade once and be done w/ it.
Quite posably your experianceing some wheel hop or excessive tire spin, if thats the case, you might wanna invest in some boxed lower rear arms and air bags. Dont forget to build your foundation for the power, your gonna need it :D

money to spend

I know it is not performance like seat of the pants but missing body bushings best money spent.Put the rest of your $700.00 plus dollars not spent on hold and watch the for sale board.Take your time and choose your parts to match your build up.

As far as bang for your $800 bucks goes, #1 is you have to make sure your exhaust is up to snuff. 2.5" duals with low restriction mufflers, minimum. If the exhaust is still stock and you are using the stock cat, you just spent $400 of your $800. No other upgrade will give you more performance at this level. What good is a new turbo if it still has to exhaust through the stock exhaust?

With the remaining $400, I'd buy Nitto 275/60 Drag radials, a Thrasher 100 and 108, a ported turbo elbow, a right side airbag, a TCC lockup switch. Any money left over (not much) I'd spend on race gas or put in the bank for when the MAF craps out (to upgrade to an LT1/translator).

If I couldn't run mid to low 12's with this set up, I would be very disappointed.
