well i picked up a 87 inter cooled motor. and i was wondering if my 85 tranny in my hot gn, will hook up and it will run fine. i really dont have no more money to spend to get a tranny. so if they dont hook up together and work i will just store the car and wait till i can get one. your info will be great full fellow TBers.

No problem, it will mate right up. You will need the 86-87 engine harness though.

yea the motor im getting next week has that. i know its gotta be primed up with oil its been sitting for 8 months the seller told me. but im glad to hear they will mate just fine... my wallet has a big pain relief.

It has to do with where the dipstick sticks up around the wireing harness on an 87. The 86-87 tube is made to come up in the right place. Don't know if any others will wrok or not.

You can make the 84-85 dipstick tube work fine. We've done it many many many times!;)
