87 MAF with stock ECM

I'm gathering parts for my conversion to the 86/87 style ECM. While I'm waiting on my chip to come in, is there any reason I can't run the 86/87 style MAF I just got while I still have my old hot-air ECM? Anyone done this and had any problems or noticed any benefits? Thanks!

I did it without any difficulty. Couldn't tell the difference actually.

I also run my 85 with a 87 Mass air. No drivability issues. I am still gathering parts for my conversion.
